Conversions to the competitive service are not guaranteed.DutiesStudent Trainee (Program Analysis) INR/OPN GS-07, GS-09 Duties:INR’s Office of Opinion Research:This position is located in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research, Office of Opinion Research (INR/OPN). The Office of Opinion Research supports U.S. diplomacy by providing the Secretary of State, the White House, and policymakers across the government with timely, insightful analyses of foreign public opinion. INR/OPN’s regional and methodological experts commission public opinion surveys and focus groups around the world. We are uniquely positioned to assess the impact of public opinion on the policies and actions of foreign leaders, as well as identify opportunities and obstacles for U.S. public diplomacy and strategic communication. The incumbent will be an Administrative Officer Intern working under the direction of the Office Director and Deputy Office Director.Major Duties and Responsibilities:At the undergraduate (GS-07) level, responsibilities include:
- Assisting OPN Administrative Officers in handling time and attendance, travel, training, and payments
- Coordinating with INR/EX on space management, furniture, and office maintenance
- Escorting visitors and maintenance personnel and maintaining office visitor logs and security

- Maintaining and updating staff listings and office organizational chart
- Assisting Administrative Officers in monitoring and ordering office supplies
At the graduate (GS-09) level, responsibilities include:
- Working with OPN’s Administrative Officers to learn policies, procedures, and software to handle time and attendance, travel, training, and payments
- Assisting with onboarding of new analysts
- Learning skills to serve as a back-up for office budgeting, requisitions, and credit card purchases
- Coordinating with INR/TIO, INR/EX, and Facilities Maintenance Services on scheduling of repairs, maintenance, and installation of furniture
- Maintaining and updating INR/OPN’s Open Net SharePoint site
