Application Engineer roles are focused on the implementation and on-going support of complex business applications/systems. This specific Senior. Application Engineer role is focused on the Physical Security Systems of the University. And, as a key role in our University-level Physical Security Systems team of HUIT, it is a key member of the team driving physical security systems for Harvard University at-large. The specific responsibilities for this role are as follows:Project delivery

  • For the projects they are involved in:
  • They are the lead technical person for the project. And as such, they are expected to:
  • Be a major contributor to the work themselves
  • Lead conversations with all parties involved in the project (customers, vendors, HUIT partners, etc.)
  • Provide direction to more junior members of the team
  • Support the project leadership team in ensuring all aspects of projects are successfully addressed, to ensure the end product delivers the value as intended (e.g., requirements, workflow mapping, usability/accessibility, appropriate levels of testing, appropriate levels of change management to ensure adoption, etc.)

Operations and service Levels

  • For the application(s) they are responsible for:
  • Ensures
  • the applications operate adequately (with minimal downtime) and meet service level expectations of business stakeholders and the user base of the products/platforms.
  • that all typical IT preventative maintenance tasks (e.g., vulnerability patching, minor upgrades, etc.) are completed on the systems they are responsible for.

Leadership

  • Expected to be deeply knowledgeable in either or both of the following:
  • The business domain and functionality they support
  • Some or all the technologies they support
  • Models good leadership behaviors, attention to best practices, and mentors others in doing so.
  • Engages in forums across Harvard, peer institutions/Ivy+, or other conferences to both contribute as an expert in their area of expertise, and learn from others
  • Supports their leadership team by providing input into strategy and roadmap documents.
