Job Description: Job Summary
Under the direction of senior staff members, conducts complex professional accounting and financial auditing functions for a County agency or department. Prepares and submits comprehensive audit reports for each assignment and keeps Financial Director informed of all irregular findings. Delegates, reviews and supervises all the activities of clerical support staff engaged in related activities. Assists Financial Director with duties as assigned. Performs such duties as establishing and maintaining controls over the rate of expenditures, allocating funds to organizational units and programs, classifying all expenditures according to budget stipulations and approving all expenditures in terms of availability and appropriate fund account. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Five (5) years full-time paid work experience in Accounting or Finance is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) license is preferred.

- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Ability to supervise, direct the activities and review the work of other accountants and support staff.
- Excellent skill in identifying possible accounting errors, inconsistencies, and unlawful practices.
- Thorough knowledge of Federal Grant Accounting practices and procedures, where applicable.
- Ability to objectively and tactfully interact with sub-grantees in resolving difficult accounting issues.
- Ability to write in a concise and grammatically correct manner.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to plan, organize and direct large-scale accounting, business management and related programs.
- Ability to maintain an attitude of professional skepticism throughout an audit.
Physical Requirements;
