We believe that centering these values and continually growing and improving how they are practiced helps staff members build a safe and supportive environment for both students and fellow staff.Position SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Long-Term Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. This role is crucial in maintaining the continuity of instruction and ensuring that students receive a high-quality education even in the absence of their regular teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, excellent classroom management skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to different teaching environments and subjects. As a Long-Term Substitute Teacher, you will be responsible for implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a positive learning environment. You will work closely with other teachers and school staff to ensure that educational standards are met and that students remain engaged and motivated. This position requires a high level of flexibility, as you may be called upon to teach various subjects and grade levels. Additionally, you will need to build rapport with students and create a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. - Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.

- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning.

- Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.

- Maintain open lines of communication with the regular teacher.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their growth.

- Handle any classroom emergencies or issues promptly and effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (preferred).
- Valid Illinois state teaching license or substitute teaching certification (as required by the district).
- Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience is preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to different teaching environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry teaching materials and supplies.
- May be required to work in various classrooms or outdoor settings.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, full-time schedule based on the school calendar.
- The position may require flexibility in hours to accommodate school activities or special events.
Duration
- The duration of the long-term substitute assignment will depend on the needs of the school and the length of the regular teacher’s absence.
- This position may last from several weeks to an entire school semester.
