Applications will continue to be accepted until this date.Position descriptionThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA has an immediate opening for an Assistant Project Scientist with expertise on lipid metabolism and nuclear receptors. The candidate will primarily be responsible to investigate the role of cholesterol transport in vascular cells and cardiovascular disease.The successful candidate will participate in project design and management; develop and validate assays, protocols and platforms that fit in the general strategic objectives of the department; develop SOPs, assay specifications and quality measures; train employees; promote the use of validated assays within and beyond the UCLA community; compile and present experimental results to the project team; prepare publications and present experimental results at scientific meetings. He/she should be able to work collaboratively with other areas as part of an interdepartmental project team.The applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology with emphasis in biochemistry and must have 4+ years of experience in microscopy, in vivo inflammation models and cholesterol assays. Demonstrated assay development experience, research independence, and technical competence in lipoprotein preparation are desired.
